As a childhood photograph can become the only memory (false, distorted or otherwise) of a specific event, a map too can have recollective powers. Having used maps as a starting point for my work for many years, I explore in this series the maps as memory by tracing private paths through streets, neighborhoods and cemeteries. Each drawn dot and circle indicates a personal relationship, a moment in time, or a longing. Materials used: Sharpie, Mylar, watercolor and digitally manipulated prints of scanned cemetery diagrams on transparent film w/ thread, glue on Plexiglas.
