Pocket Shots: Figures In The Frame
Pocket Shots: Figures In The Frame
Series Statement
This ongoing series explores the presence of human figures captured while passing through the frame. There’s a sense of proximity in these images - I'm close but not invited. The figures are never posed or performing for me or the camera.
What emerges, I think, is an observational study of gesture, posture, pace, and the way people inhabit space when no one’s looking. These aren’t portraits. They’re just fragments and glimpses.
As with the larger Pocket Shots series, this thread leans into the way reality feels right now (disjointed, chaotic, swirling, too fast, verging on fight or flight), but here the focus shifts toward the human element. It’s less about the glitch or the landscape, and more about the choreography of shared space with others who agree or disagree with me about the most important things going on in the world we all inhabit. There is a lot going on.
I like the tension between distance and closeness. I also love feeling anonymous in a crowd, and when I am creating these images, no one notices me (could be cause I'm so old!). I will continue to explore the figure in this way.
